The competition will simulate the activities of the African Union (AU). Teams will represent the African country to which they are assigned, and will have the opportunity to debate, draft, and submit resolutions on issues arising in the various AU committees: Democracy, Governance, and Human Rights; Economic Matters; Social Matters; Pan-Africanism and Continental Unity; Peace and Security; and Assembly of Heads of State and Government. Teams should have a minimum of six students, so that one student may serve in each committee, and a maximum of eight, to allow for alternates. During the competition, students will have the opportunity to meet with Ambassadors from various African countries, to attend several social and networking receptions, and to enjoy African food, music, and culture.
